Squash

Adoption pending.

Hi, my name is Squash. It is a funny name for a female cat but I guess it is because I came into this rescue last October and squash is a fall vegetable. I turned 1 in July. I know I don't stand out in the adoption list because I'm not a cute young kitten, but did you know I was only 3 months old when I came in. I was rescued from a barn by a nice lady who noticed me darting around, trying to avoid humans with no mom or siblings. Having been born outside to a feral mom, I was taught from birth that humans were not to be trusted. When I was first trapped by The Forgotten Ferals, and brought to Hotel Donna, I brought this fear and distrust with me. This nice lady at the hotel worked really hard with me, encouraging me to be petted, and to come out more with the other cats. I was never a fan of the other cats in the hotel, but I learned to like the pets a bit more every month.

A few months ago, I went a new foster home where I am the only cat, and could have a larger space to grow. This really helped me to continue to trust and grow. I still am a bit shy, and will need time and patience in a new home but if you learn my limits and body language cues, I will provide you with years of endless love and devotion. Ideally I would do best in a home as an only pet, with older children who understand me and my boundaries.
